Details: At our next Liberty Forum, panelists Péter Hack (ELTE – School of Law), Renáta Uitz (Central European University) and Orsolya Salát (ELTE – School of Social Sciences) and moderator Marion Smith (Common Sense Society) will address the long-standing and highly debated topic of Role of State and Church. Since ancient times, statesmen, priests, philosophers and everyday men have all tried to define the proper role of state and church, how and in what aspect they should be intertwined, if at all. Our speakers will reflect on the Western tradition of separation of church and state, the various different aspects of subsidizing churches and the philosophical, constitutional and moral concepts behind the whole debate.
